Need support to reach your professional goals? We can help.

Linda Groah Leadership Development Grant

Nominate an exceptional nurse leader today.

The AORN Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN). As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we exist to empower perioperative nurses—those who make surgery safe—by funding their education, research, and professional development.

The Foundations Mission

We support the perioperative nurses who make surgery safe.  With support from generous donors and corporate partners, the Foundation provides:

  • Academic Scholarships – helping nursing students and perioperative RNs advance their education.
  • Professional Development Grants – funding certifications and continuing education.
  • Patient Safety Resources – toolkits, webinars, and programs that directly impact surgical outcomes.
  • Research Funding – advancing evidence-based practice in the OR.
  • Leadership & Education Programs – seminars that prepare the next generation of perioperative leaders.

Our Impact

When nurses have the resources to grow, patients everywhere benefit.

  • More than 169 academic scholarships were awarded for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • About 250 recipients were funded in the last year - expanding the perioperative profession through Professional Certification grants, AORN Expo grants, and Perioperative Leadership Development grants.
  • Countless patients impacted by safer surgical care
  • The help, support, and recognition deserved to empower our best nurses

Reach Your Professional Goals

The AORN Foundation is here to support your professional goals and help you maintain evidence-based knowledge and competencies for providing quality care to your patients. We provide funding for academic scholarships and grants, as well as support for continuing education and certifications, and evidence-based research to advance the practice.

How You Can Help

Your contribution is more than a donation; it’s an investment in safe surgery and the future of nursing.

Ways to Give:

  • Honor and Memorial Gifts – Make a gift in honor or memory of a special perioperative nurse, colleague, friend, or family member.
  • Endow a Gift – Create a perpetual income stream that supports Foundation programs year after year.
  • Planned Giving – Work with a financial advisor to give cash or assets (such as real estate) that provide tax benefits and potential lifelong income.
  • Establish a Named Scholarship – Individuals, companies, or organizations can fund an annual named academic scholarship.
  • Outstanding Nurse Philanthropist Award – Nominate an exceptional perioperative nurse who has championed the Foundation.
  • Tribute Wall – Create a lasting tribute to honor a family member, friend, or colleague while supporting the nurses who make surgery safe.
